The lineup for Festival International de Louisiane 2015, the annual free world music festival centered in downtown Lafayette, has officially been released, revealing headliners Anjelique Kidjo from Benin, Ukrainian folk-punk quartet DakhaBrakha, the MarchFourth Marching Band, Nomadic Massive, GIVERS and Buckwheat's World featuring Buckwheat Zydeco.
Festival International is scheduled for April 22 through April 26.
Kidjo, a Grammy Award-winning musician, will be making a return trip for the festival, and the MarchFourth Marching Band is "one of the most requested bands in Festival history," according to a release.
Also on the lineup are JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound, Vieux Farka Toure from Mali, Noura Mint Seymali from Mauritania, Groupto Fantasma, Jon Cleary, Tal National, Aurelio Martinez, Lisa LeBlanc, The Jones Family Band Singers, Lagbaja, Kinobe & the Wamu Spirit and Cambalache from Mexico.
More local flavor will come from Terrance Simien & the Zydeco Experience, Roddie Romeri & the Hub City All-Stars, Lil Nathan & the Zydeco Big timers, Dwayne Dopsie & the Zydeco Hellraisers, Bonsoir Catin, the Lost Bayou Ramblers, Brass Bed, Feufollet, Soul Creole, Sunny Duval, Bas Clas, Jeffrey Broussard Family Band, Cedric Watson & the Mad Minstrels, Connie G, Leroy Thomas & the Zydeco Roadrunners, Corey Ledet & his Zydeco Band and The Figs.
Also on tap this year is the first-ever official Festival after-party, which will feature Big Freedia on Friday, April 24, during a performance at NiteTown.
The after-party with Big Freedia will be ticketed in an on-going effort to keep the annual event free. Festival organizers also introduced this year a number of VIP-like tickets with various perks, including access to cash bars, private bathrooms and separate viewing areas for the festival.
