Festival International de Louisiane has announced the lineup for 2015. Anjélque Kidjo from Benin, Ukrainian folk-punk quartet DakhaBrakha, Portland's MarchFourth Marching Band, Quebec's Nomadic Massive, Lafayette's own GIVERS and Buckwheat's World feat Buckwheat Zydeco serve as this year's headliners.
These musicians will be sub-headlined by an equally diverse group of performers such as JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound, Vieux Farka Touré from Mali, Noura Mint Seymali from Mauritania, Groupto Fantasma, Jon Cleary, Tal National, Aurelio Martinez, Lisa LeBlanc, The Jones Family Band Singers, Lagbaja, Kinobe & the Wamu Spirit, and Cambalache from Mexico.
This year marks a long-awaited return to Lafayette for audience favorite, Grammy Award-winning Anjélque Kidjo. MarchFourth Marching Band is one of the most requested bands in Festival history and DahkaBrakha are the hottest act in international music today.
Local Louisiana acts include Terrance Simien & the Zydeco Experience, Roddie Romero & the Hub City All-Stars, Lil Nathan & the Zydeco Big Timers, Dwayne Dopsie & the Zydeco Hellraisers, Bonsoir Catin, the Lost Bayou Ramblers, Brass Bed, Feufollet, Soul Creole, Sunny Duval, Bas Clas, Jeffery Broussard Family Band, Cedric Watson & the Mad Minstrels, Connie G, Leroy Thomas & the Zydeco Roadrunners, Corey Ledet & his Zydeco Band, The Figs, and more!
Festival is especially proud of some local collaborations that will be highlighted in 2015 including Les Etoiles d'Immersion avec Zachary Richard et ses Amis, the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra, the International Fiddle Summit featuring David Greely, Sainte-Anne Alumni Allstar Band, and Tipitina's Intern Musicians from New Orleans.
Big Freedia, the undisputed Queen of New Orleans Bounce, will be playing the first ever Official Festival After Party on Friday, April 24 at NiteTown. Festival is thrilled to welcome this trailblazing artist to Lafayette. Tickets to the After Party are $20 and can be purchased online at festivalinternational.org. All proceeds benefit Festival.
